The story of CLIC's success

When "CLIC" was founded in 1978, Mrs. Lynn Charpentier's purpose was to offer individualized language courses such as French, English and Spanish that would allow students to obtain better results than in the public and private teaching systems. After teaching for many years, she launched a new teaching method and approach following a four year case study. This communicative method is based on "THE STUDENT", on the initial diagnosis of his linguistic strengths and weaknesses and on the belief that each one deserves a made to measure program taking into account a unique learning profile. The learning of a second language in large groups, where the objective is proficiency, is unattainable. On the other hand, the concept of an individualized made to measure program is an infallible recipe that respects and recognizes a student's specific learning traits completely. A French Immersion Program is also offered.

In order to better serve all of its student clientele, "CLIC" opened schools in several big cities across Quebec.

1978

The first year, "CLIC" launched its operations in Sherbrooke, the head office and also a school in Granby.

1979

A third school in Jonquiere allowed "CLIC" to continue growing during the following five years. At that point in time, "CLIC's" work force was composed of 45 teachers and directors in three regions of Quebec.

1984

Proud of its teachers and results and secure in its pursuit of cutting edge teaching tools, "CLIC" opened a school in Drummondville.

1985

"CLIC" was given the award for "Best Business of Services of the year" in Quebec in a contest for SME organized by "L'Association des Femmes d'Affaires du Québec" and Mrs. Charpentier was one of three finalists to the title of "Businesswoman of the year". A solid business plan and rigorous control of CLIC's services earned Mrs. Charpentier these awards. Furthermore, the addition of one more school in St-Georges-de-Beauce allowed "CLIC" to grow to 63 employees either full time or part time.

1986

The development of made to measure language programs in French, English and Spanish for businesses and industries allowed "CLIC" to expand its corporate client base in Montreal. Also the same year, Mrs. Charpentier was awarded the "Cercle des Bâtisseurs Molson" honor, awarded to only one hundred entrepreneurs in Quebec for their exceptional entrepreneurship qualities.

1988

In order to better serve a growing clientele, two new schools were opened, one in Chicoutimi and one in St-Hyacinthe. "CLIC's" growth allowed the group to expand its activities and be present in most regions of Quebec.

In September of 1988, secure in its results and strengthened by its ten year growth, "CLIC" launched its own franchise network. By doing so, Mrs. Charpentier created a real precedent by becoming the FIRST FRANCHISOR IN THE WORLD in the language training industry.

1989

"CLIC" set up English immersion programs in Miami, Florida and opened schools in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, St-Felicien and Rimouski.

1990-1991

Four other "CLIC" schools opened their doors : Riviere-du-Loup, Trois-Rivieres, Baie-Comeau and Sept-Iles.

1992-1995

CLIC's R&D department developed eleven books for English students of all levels and ages. It also developed a lot of modern material for students learning other languages.

1996

It was Hull's turn to see the opening of a new "CLIC" school to serve individuals as well as corporations and government agencies. The ever expanding client base allowed for a 10% growth year after year.

Today and tomorrow"CLIC" centers are now present in most regions of Quebec and "CLIC" programs are offered in all languages throughout Quebec. In 2001, Mrs. Charpentier was awarded the title of "Best Business Woman of the Year" in Quebec in the category "medium and large size business" by "L'Association des Femmes d'Affaires du Québec". Mrs. Charpentier plans to increase the number of "CLIC" franchises in distant locations. Her wish continues to be to surpass her clients' expectations which remains the best source of references for "CLIC".
