Information about our programs
All modern languages such as French, English and Spanish
The "CLIC" schools teach all modern languages. However, a two week waiting period may be necessary when registering for a course in a language that is less frequently requested.
An efficient method
The CHARPENTIER communicative method focuses on contemporary everyday conversation. At "CLIC", our purpose is to enable our students to become proficient in their second language so that they may express themselves with anyone, anywhere, anytime and about anything. The students are presented with several options: Private courses (1 student per teacher). Semi-private courses (2 students per teacher). Small workshops (3-8 students per teacher). An Immersion Program is also offered.
These options have proven time and time again how efficient the "CLIC" method is because "it is by talking that you learn how to talk".
At "CLIC", we never turn the page until the student has proven to us that he fully understands and can use the material. Since 1978, we have devised many unmistakable mechanisms to ensure that the student is in control of his linguistic environment.
Preliminary evaluation
|
Question : |
"How much does it cost?" |
|
Question : |
"How long will it take me to become proficient in my second language?" |
Before answering these questions and based on the fact that no two individuals are identical, it is essential to do a thorough diagnosis of a student's strengths, weaknesses and learning ability. By way of an oral evaluation, we need to determine:
The candidate's exact level of competence in his second language:
- Level of comprehension
- The quality of his oral proficiency:
- Verbal structures
- Vocabulary (limited ? broad ?)
- Contemporary and colloquial expressions
- Grammar and syntax
- Extent of linguistic reflexes
- The candidate's learning profile:
- Academic and practical background in the second language
- Personality
- Speed of assimilation
- Visual learner or listener
"CLIC" attaches great importance to this evaluation because it is founded on the premise that the better we know the student, the faster and more efficient his learning process will be. Only then, after this evaluation will a program recommendation be precisely formulated. From the onset, "CLIC" works on the strength of a solid partnership with the student to enable him to reach his objectives wether it be in French, English, Spanish or any other language.
Length of program
The initial diagnosis will help determine the candidate's need versus his objectives, his speed of assimilation, his availability and level of linguistic proficiency at the beginning. Thus, depending on these factors, the length of a program will vary from one student to another. However, one thing is sure, "CLIC" students are entitled to a "made to measure" program which meets their approval and with which they are comfortable.
A made to measure program
The initial diagnostic evaluation also allows us to discuss the candidate's needs, objectives, availability and budget. All of these factors will be taken into account in order for "CLIC" to custom-build a personalized language program for the candidate, in French, English, Spanish or any other language.
Student's level
Once the initial diagnosis has been completed, the "CLIC" consultant will be able to set up the type of program and number of training hours required for the student to reach the desired level of linguistic proficiency. All language programs at "CLIC" are structured as follows in terms of level:
|

Schedule
Most of the time, students opt for training once or twice a week.
However, other formulas are also available such as:
|
Semi-intensive: |
5 half-days a week (maximum of 3 hours at a time). |
|
Intensive: |
5 full days a week |
|
Total immersion ("Grand Slam"): |
Full-time, 5 or 6 day program including room and board. |
Whatever formula the candidate decides on, the schedule of his program will respect his needs and priorities. All "CLIC" schools are open from 8:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. Monday to Friday and on Saturdays, if there is a need. This allows for great flexibility in terms of schedule.
